The Government:

      India is a democracy with a parliamentary form of government, which was established under a written constitution in 1950.

      The country is composed of 28 states and 7 union territories. The governance is effectuated through a two tier system: state matters are under the State Government and the national matters under the Central or the Union Government, in accordance with constitutionally mandated lists for what are state and union matters.

      The government is composed of three traditional branches: legislature, executive and judiciary.
